Cooperativa Agroextrativista do Mapiá e Médio Purus

We are a cooperative founded in 2003 by a group of 21 producers from the Vila Céu do Mapiá community, founded in 1983. This community is located at the headwaters of the Mapiá creek, 30 km from the Purus River, in one of the most unspoiled areas of the western Brazilian Amazon.

Since then, Cooperar has sought to expand its range of activities, encouraging multiple use of the forest in its production centers. With great social and environmental responsibility aimed at keeping the forest standing, today we work with the involvement of 65 riverside communities along more than 1000 km of river.
