Casa do Castanheiro was born out of the understanding that there was a need for extractivists in the Purus region and the possibility of being able to help these producers who had no real guarantee of selling the products collected by their families. They were looking for a partnership with a company responsible for these resources, respecting environmental sustainability, forest conservation, the development of local communities and the valorization of the Amazon's potential.
The Brazil nut tree (Bertholletia Excelsa), popularly known as Brazil nut, Amazon nut, Brazil Nuts, tocari or tururi, is a large tree of the Lecitidaceae family, native to the Terra Firme forest, very abundant in northern Brazil, whose fruit contains the nut, which is its seed.
